The album themes are handled through the eight humane stories about the River Pielinen. Ancient beliefs, mental problems, a human's relationship with nature and their effect on it, a human's greed and the consequences of it, the loss of a loved one and alienation from the society became central themes in the songs. The album is also the soundtrack to the movie "The River Flows With You – Stories About Humanity", every one of the eight songs also appears in the movie.
